Many of Douglas Irvines unusual sound samples for Ambient Egypt were recorded during his research of the musical instruments of ancient Middle Eastern cultures. Some of that research involved his crafting of ancient Egyptian instrument replicas for museum exhibits, lectures and recording projects. A few rare sound samples for the CD derive from surviving instruments (small bells and finger cymbals) of the ancient world. |
